Prayer and Engagement

Prayer and Engagement, Intentional lifestyle is not an evangelistic strategy but rather a way of living taken from Luke chapter 10 verses 5-9 where Jesus encourages us: to Pray peace to this house; Relate eating and drinking; Care heal the sick; Communicate tell the kingdom of God is near.

The truth of living an intentional lifestyle is to be ourselves, to be natural. We have to have a mind that is open to the opportunities around us and a will to Pray and Engage.

Praying for your neighbours

As a family we have lived in Forest Gate for five years and when we arrived we signed up as a lighthouse of prayer (as it was then known) and took the above passage seriously. We pray as we walk up and down our street whether it would be to the corner shop or taking our boys to the school. as we have done so we have come to know many of our neighbours. Some of these relationships have developed into friendships often through food! There have been opportunities to show practical care and to offer prayer; and at times this has led us to being able naturally to share our faith.

Partly as a result of this Intentional lifestyle of praying and engaging we have seen three people down our street come to church and get baptised. Surely together we can Intentionally cover Newham with prayer with every street, workplace, school covered with a natural supernatural witness of prayer and engagement. Why don’t you sign up to play your part. If you would like to find out more please contact Transform Newham and ask about prayer & engagement “the intentional lifestyle”
