Urban Mission Toolkit

urban mission toolkitMost of us, if we are honest, are all too aware of the gap between what we believe as Christians regarding the good news of God’s Kingdom and the challenging issues that are so obvious in our inner cities.

Many of us long to make a difference, to put our faith into action, to be part of the solution. But how?

It is in response to this question that the Catalyst Urban Trust run Urban Mission Toolkit. It exists to equip, train and mobilise Christians into action to see the transformation of our city. It gives people experience in serving in new and exciting ways in the inner city, whilst having support, teaching and encouragement.

Practical Requirements

• 2 - 3 hours of practical work each week within an urban project
• 30 evenings of teaching spread over 3 terms. Evenings include a meal, group support and a workshop led by experienced urban practitioners.
Monday evenings starting on 8th October 07, Highway Church, Stratford, London E15 4EH
• One weekend away - date to be discussed.

Fees

The total cost of the course is £370 which covers the teaching, weekend away, notes and coffee. Payable in three installments. There is a discounted fee of £330 for those who pay upfront. Bursaries of £185 is still available for those for whom the cost may be an issue, application should be made soon as possible. Contributions on the night are asked for the meal provided.

As you can see from the above, we at Highway Church are very excited about the opportunity to host this course and the good thing is it is open to everyone. See the DVD clip which I trust will inspire and encourage people to become involved. Enrolment forms are available from Highway's Church Office or alternatively you can enrol on-line on the Catalyst Trust website.

People can also become involved in being Taskforce volunteers. Taskforce members need to commit to the evenings and be able to get their on time. This is a great place for people to serve God and have a lot of fun. The course cannot run with the highly valued team of Taskforce volunteers.

Taskforce teams can be made up of people who:
~ Just want to serve
~ Or are on bursaries

Typical taskforce jobs:

  • setting up the rooms
  • preparing for supper
  • serving supper
  • washing up
  • clearing up at the end of the evening.

We are also planning a prayer team to pray through the course.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact either Simon Clinton or Anne Dixon at Highway Church tel 020 8534 4019.
